Instructions on How To Use Expert System

  • Start the program by clicking the Homeopathy Solutions icon. After reading the disclaimer carefully and agreeing to the terms and conditions, you will find yourself on the main menu page where you can start a new session, look up a previously saved session, go through a tutorial or exit the program.
  • To start a new session of the Expert System – from the “Select an option” box, click on the down arrow to select a “new user”.
  • Place your cursor in the “Type a new user here” box, and type in the name you wish to use for this and future sessions. (You can list all your family members separately so that their sessions are kept organized for the future or for personal reference).
  • If the name you wish to use is already listed, click on the name.
  • Place your cursor in the “Type a name for this session” box, and type a session identifier, e.g. Sore Throat – Oct 15, 2006
  • Click on the “Start Tab”

The next screen brings up the “select your ailment” menu.

  • Use your mouse to find the area on the body where your ailment is located.
  • This will highlight in red the appropriate list box, e.g. in the diagram to the left, the body area is highlighted in blue, and the “Upper Chest” box is highlighted in red.
  • Scroll through the list of ailments until you find the one you want to run and either double click it, or click once and then click on the “Begin Analysis” tab.

The next screen brings up a very important set of instructions which should be read carefully before proceeding, as the accuracy of the Expert System depends on following these instructions.

SYMPTOM SELECTION TIPS:

  1. In certain categories there may be more than a single answer. Please select any of the symptoms which you find GENERALLY, COMMONLY or MOST OFTEN expresses what you are experiencing.

  2. Symptoms that are fleeting, ambiguous or based on interpretation should be considered unreliable, and thus should NOT be selected. Do not feel obliged to select symptoms from each category unless they actually apply.
  3. Select only those symptoms which accurately reflect the symptoms you are experiencing and directly correspond to the ailment under consideration.
  4. Read the Question that appears in black at the top of the screen
  5. Using your mouse click on all the answers/symptoms below that relate to you and what you are experiencing.
    • (Note: you do not have to select any answers from a screen of questions if there is not anything that fits your exact experience).
    • If you have selected an answer and wish to change your mind, just click on that symptom again to deselect it.
    • Once you have completed selecting the symptoms from the current screen, click on the “next screen” tab at the bottom right of the screen.
    • If you wish to go back to a previous screen of symptoms, click on the “previous screen” tab in the bottom left of the screen.
    • Continue this process of symptom selection until all the ailment screens have been completed to your satisfaction, and then click on “Finish” tab in the bottom right of the screen.
    • If you wish to navigate back - to choose a “new session”, “change the ailment”, or “exit” the program – at any point in the session, you can click on the “sidebar” chevron on the far middle left of the screen. To collapse these menu options, click again on the chevron.

The Final screen is a printable results screen.
